English Course To Focus on Indigenous Issues

The English Department will offer a section of First Year Composition II (ENGL 102 - Section 426) that focuses on Indigenous culture in the United States and Canada using contemporary and historical articles and stories. Native American/Indigenous students are encouraged to register for this course to work on their writing in a relevant and nurturing environment.

UArizona Welcomes Tribal Leaders From Across U.S. for Two-Day Summit on Education

The University of Arizona hosted nearly two dozen tribal leaders from across the U.S. for a two-day summit focused on finding ways that university scholarship and programs can better serve tribes and tribal students. The Tribal Leaders Summit, held on Oct. 21 and 22, was the first of what is intended to be an annual event with Indigenous leaders.

UArizona Launches Center to Advance Resilience of Native Nations, Address Environmental Challenges

Sept. 13, 2021

The University of Arizona is launching an interdisciplinary center that will work on projects and partnerships with Native American nations to advance tribal communities' efforts to respond to environmental challenges and become more resilient.

The Indigenous Resilience Center will be a partnership between Native nations and the university's Arizona Institutes for Resilience, Agnese Nelms Haury Program in Environment and Social Justice, and multiple faculty members and academic programs that focus on supporting the resilience of Native and Indigenous communities.
