Native American Scholarships

Students may search for the following scholarships through Scholarship Universe unless otherwise noted. In addition to the listed scholarships, limited emergency funding is available. For more information, visit the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (OSFA).

Upon request, Native American students are required to provide verification of tribal enrollment or letter from an authorized tribal official verifying tribal descendancy.

Betty B Chastain Scholarship

Native American ancestry in a degree or certificate program. Student must be taking a minimum of 12 units per semester.  Must maintain a 2.0 GPA and must show financial need.

Native American students who demonstrate financial need and are endeavoring to further their education. Preference to those who demonstrate desire for advanced degrees.

Clarence and Margie Lintz Scholarship

Enrolled full-time at The University of Arizona. Be a resident of the State of Arizona. Majoring in civil engineering, education, or a health sciences field (e.g., nursing, etc.). Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for an incoming freshman or 2.5 for a previously enrolled college student. Demonstrate financial need.

Clarence & Gladys Logan Scholarship

For undergraduate students who are members of any Native American tribe within the State of Arizona. Recipient must provide community service appropriate to his or her professional skills. Financial need is not a factor in selecting the recipient(s).

Scott Campbell Memorial Scholarship

Incoming Native American students who have demonstrated a commitment to social activism on behalf of Native Americans and a desire to give back to their community. Recipients shall be graduates of an Arizona high school, Arizona resident, and demonstrate financial need. The scholarship may be renewable for no more than three additional years. The recipient must be making satisfactory progress toward their degree and maintain their academic standing in the college of their choice.

Pascua Yaqui tribal member.  Renewable for 1 yr if maintains cumulative 2.0 - 2.5 or better GPA.

Mullis Native American Scholarship Endowment

Undergraduate and graduate student(s) pursuing a degree in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (the "College") and enrolled full time with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA or greater. Recipients will demonstrate merit, financial need, and a commitment to public health service and leadership. Primary preference will be given to students who are Native American and who have demonstrated a commitment to service in their communities of Arizona and a social awareness of Native American culture.

Member of Tohono O'odham Nation enrolled at College of Medicine or other Health Sciences program.

Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Wassaja Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe with priority going to members of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation. Must possess and maintain a 2.50 semester and cumulative GPA for undergraduate students or a 3.0 semester and cumulative GPA for graduate students.  Must be undergraduate or graduate or professional students within one year of completing their bachelors, masters, doctoral, or professional degrees.  Must be a fulltime student.  Recipients are strongly encouraged to provide volunteer community service to American Indian Tribes, American Indian Organizations, or State/Federal Departments or Agencies providing services to American Indian communities and populations.

Robin Coon Tohono O'odham Scholarship

Applicants must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student and a member of the Tohono O'odham Nation. Student must demonstrate academic merit and financial need.  Preference shall be given to students that are graduates of Baboquivari High School or attending Tohono O'odham Community College. Award recipient(s) are eligible for renewal consideration, for up to five years, if he/she continues to demonstrate satisfactory academic progress as defined by the eligibility criteria.

Salvador A. Mazza Scholarship

Native American students entering the university and interested in medicine or law. This scholarship is renewable for the full academic career of the students selected. Candidates must be academically eligible and demonstrate financial need. Award recipient(s) are eligible for renewal consideration if he/she continues to demonstrate satisfactory academic progress.

Robert and Anna Rupkey Scholarship Fund

Must be enrolled full-time at The University of Arizona. Students must demonstrate that they are making satisfactory academic progress toward their degree and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given in order of priority to the following students: 1. Members of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, and/or 2. Members of an Apache Tribe. These awards may be used to support emergency situations.

Chen-Chow Bear Down Scholarship

Established in 2020, the Chen-Chow Bear Down Scholarship is available to students from under-represented groups, with a goal toward engaging students from Native Nations in the Eller College and MIS. Students of Native American descent, as well as students who have a demonstrated interest in the Hispanic and Black American cultures, are encouraged to apply, regardless of their current GPA.

William Clark Scholarship

This scholarship was created to assist Native American students, with preference given to members of the White Mountain Apache tribe. Must plan to return to tribal community and make contribution to their people.

Future Physicians ScholarshipThe fund will provide financial aid and academic support for up to seven Navajo scholars per year, to help them earn a medical degree from the UA College of Medicine – Tucson or the UA College of Medicine – Phoenix. University of Arizona/Sloan Indigenous Graduate PartnershipProspective Native American/Alaska Native graduate students are invited to apply for admission and financial support to earn a master's and/or doctoral degrees in one of 60 graduate programs offered by the University of Arizona in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
