Native Languages of Arizona Campus Sign Initiative

San Carlos Apache Arizona Stadium Sign Dedication

A collaboration of the University’s Linguistics Department and the Office of Native American Advancement and Tribal Engagement, the initiative is part of our broader efforts to make the University a welcoming and inclusive place for Native American students, faculty, staff, and visitors, and to honor the Native Nations that make their homes in our region.

In August, the San Carlos Apache Tribe came to campus for the unveiling of a new sign for Arizona Stadium. The sign now proudly bears words in Apache “Dagonitnané zhi nadagonitkaad,” which mean “We Will Fight Until We Win.”
